A Picture Of Me And The Kids.
A tribute to motherhood. A celebration of love. You Are What Is Most Beautiful About Me, the self-portrait of Del Kathryn Barton and her children is the winner of this years Archibald prize for portraiture: although it is not without controversy.
While there is always much ado regarding the winning entry what is arguably Australia’s most celebrated art award, recent events have conspired to make this the most contentious yet, as Barton’s bright, illustrative piece narrowly edged out Vincent Fantuzzo’s lifelike painting of the late Heath Ledger for top honours.
