“Beautiful Suffering demonstrates that an addiction to authority figures can sometimes create an unholy suffering. Intense yearnings translate into extreme misery when the object of their desires are not reciprocated. A normally strong and self-assured woman is tortured by the reality of her addiction, in her desire for a relationship with an unattainable priest. The woman is haunted, possessed by her craving to have him and who is ultimately shunned by him as he remains loyal to his only love, the Church. Her anguish is highlighted as she endeavours to reconcile the truth that she cannot compete with the Lord for the priest’s affection.”

“My inspiration comes from a poem by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (1940-1973), which I feel depicts this photo story most appropriately... The styling and Make Up provide the model with a look that is both strong and vulnerable featuring intense eyes and soft lips, her carefree attitude is juxtaposed against the sophisticated and delicate clothing. She strives to look composed, though her ever wandering mind makes her look somewhat dishevelled.”

I use a strong dose of irony, humour and reality in my shoots which sometimes can be challenging; getting these three great girls to really loosen up and take a new direction with their modelling was certainly a case in point.”
